MARSHWAZY LIBRARY
CLIENT. SPRING CREEK LIBRARY BRANCH RENOVATION
BROOKLYN PUBLIC LIBRARY EAST NEW YORK, NEW YORK, USA.
DATE. 03.09.2025
The Spring Creek Branch of the Brooklyn Public Library in East New York is one of the many ‘Lindsay Box’ libraries built in the 1970s—simple, cost-effective buildings with limited design. Many lifelong residents had no idea this branch existed. To better serve the neighborhood, we vertically expand with precision-milled Mass Timber elements, making it more visible, inviting, and engaging. With East New York’s significant population of young people under 25 without a high school diploma, this branch offers improved educational programing, with an emphasis on school retention and nature exploration.
